OIM™ Analysis Software

OIM™ 3D Data Analysis and Visualization

Overview

Batch Processiong Tools:

Allows the user to perform systematic analysis of any collection of OIMTM scan data, which require similar analysis routines. The capability is especially helpful when analyzing serial data sets that were collected using OIMTM 3D on an ion-electron beam microscope: including data rotations, data cleanup, cropping and/or alignment.  In addition, any of the wide set of functional analyses available in OIMTM  Analysis such as texture analysis or grain boundary statistics can be applied to the sequential data sets.

The batch processing capability comes standard with the OIMTM 3D Wizard, but is also offered separately to meet other non-standard EBSD data collection needs in association with other materials analysis techniques, such as heating stage, tensile testing, creep, and many others.

3D Visualization Software

Click here for more information: 3D Visualization Software.

EDAX-TSL created the 3D Visualization Software specifically for the analysis of 3D EBSD data sets. Although "off-the-shelf" software packages are available from 3rd party sources for combining data in 3D solids, the operation of such packages can be time-consuming and rarely meets all the needs of the EBSD scientist or engineer.

The 3D Visualization software can be used to create graphical visualizations of serially collected data sets that can be rendered into a 3D solid and then displayed using commonly used OIMTM  map types. Once created, the solid can be sliced from six directions, free rotated, and zoomed/panned for thorough inspection of the microstructure. Finally, still images and movies can be created of the analyses for presentations. 3D Visualization software is the preferred tool for analysis of 3D EBSD data.
